Author(s)/editor(s) Tatiana Catană

This brief focuses on providing legal recommendations for the formulation and implementation of gender-responsive migration, labour, and trafficking laws. After summarizing some background information, the brief provides general recommendations for governments and related agencies. It further outlines more detailed suggestions for countries of origin, transit and destination. The recommendations for countries of origin are divided into specific conditions that need to be considered pre-departure, recruitment prior to departure and for migrants who are returning.

This publication has been produced with the assistance of the European Union as part of the UN Women project “Promoting and Protecting Human and Labour Rights of Women Migrant Workers”.
